We are in Myrtle Beach SC! Grace, Emily and I decided to accompany Rocky on a business trip. He is teaching a conference here all week. The Marriott set us up with a suite, so it is like a little home away from home! We brought lots of toys and books and Emily's swing so we are having a great time. I get to spend time with my girls without all the responsibilites of running a household!

Yesterday was so much fun. It was a mother/daughter kind of day. First of all we went bowling for the first time. Some of the Moms Club members went to Rainbow lanes. Grace was very anxious at first. The heavy balls and the loud noises from them landing on the lanes was overwhelming for her. For the first few times I held the ball and she just put her hands on mine. It wasn't long before she wanted to try it herself and thunk! down went the ball. The gutter gaurds were up and she ended up doing amazingly well for the first time! She really enjoyed it. Then we went and had lunch with Michelle, Sara and Seth. They just moved to the area from Wilmington. Grace and Sara really hit it off! We look forward to getting to know them better. Then Grace and I went to Target and she used her 5 dollar allowance for the week to buy a princess sticker book. She was so fun to watch as she made her choice. She looked over all the various choices and then picked the one she liked best. It is so hard as a mom to just stand back and let her make her own choices, and this was just with a sticker book! What will it be like to watch her make more important choices?! I am starting to realize the importance of guiding her in the right ways so that she will choose wisely. Thanks Mom if you are reading this!!!! Then we went to pick out a belt, as her skirt was falling off of her little waist. Of course she wanted the most sparkly one there was to offer. She ended up with a pink one that has a sparkly heart buckle. Then we went and had a snack. She picked a chocolate chip cookie and apple juice. I enjoyed simply being with her all day. Daddy had baby Emily at home with him, and she slept, ate, played for a few minutes, slept, ate and repeated this until bedtime at 7:00 and slept until 7:30 this morning. She likes to sleep as much as her mommy does!

Our friend and neighbor Paula took these shots of Emily and all her little parts and made it into a collage for me to hang in her room.

Just another day in paradise as Phil Collins would say! I feel so lucky to be able to stay at home with my girls. Tonight I played the piano while Grace danced to the music. I don't even have to get all the notes right and she enjoys it! That's why kids are so fun to be around, they take you as you are! Emily is learning to coordinate her movements. She's so funny to watch. She brings her hands right up to her face and then looks at them cross-eyed. Then gives them a good slurp. Sometimes she gets mad when they won't do what she wants them to do. Now off to spend some time with my husband. I'm such a lucky girl! I will try to post pictures tomorrow when I figure out how to do it!

I've decided to enter the blogging world. "Everybody's doing it" has never been a great reason to do something, but I have really enjoyed reading several of my friend's blogs and I have been inspired! We live so far away from our family and many of our friends. This seems like a good way to keep in touch. I feel so fortunate to have the spectacular husband that I married just about 13 years ago, and now 2 precious little girls. This will also be a way for me to remember the day to day moments that make up our "happily ever after."
